A modern parquet board is a product that, in terms of its practical characteristics, is not inferior to a classic parquet. But it also has one major advantage. Namely, a simple installation technology. The owner himself will be able to cope with laying the parquet board on the floor on his own. How to install the material correctly? The procedure consists of the following steps.
1. Preparation of the rough surface for the board
In order for the board to last as long as possible and not deform, the owner needs to provide the most reliable and even base for it. You should start by removing the old floor covering. Then, if necessary, the previous screed is also dismantled, if there is damage on it.
Large height differences are eliminated using ordinary concrete mortar. Next, a substrate is laid on the completely dried floor. For example, using technical cork or wood slabs – MDF, OSB and similar.
2. Assembling the floor covering from the board
A specific feature of this material is the presence of a groove-ridge system. Therefore, the boards are only joined by the edges, without using additional adhesive. The first is to assemble a full row of parquet laid along the room. In this row, the boards are joined only at the ends. For reliable fastening, they are additionally hammered with a mallet or a rubber mallet using a stop.
The second row is already laid so that a ligation of the seams is formed. It's not difficult to create it. It is only necessary to use as the first element of the row not a whole board, but a board cut in half. The rows are also joined using grooves and ridges, resulting in a hard floor without cracks.
This is how they continue to assemble all the flooring, remembering the previously mentioned seam dressing rule. In the last row, the board also has to be cut lengthwise. The easiest way to do this is using an electric jigsaw.
3. Decorative finishing of parquet board
After the installation is completed, decorative finishing is started. For this purpose, paint or varnish is usually used. Just before applying them, the board also needs to be primed. Then the decorative composition is applied in two layers. When the board is dry, the owner will have to fix the baseboards.
